from Pistis Sophia

These early chapters give a broad background of Gnostic concepts and set the scene for the story of Pistis Sophia which unfolds later. A vast concept is illustrated, a principle that operates in every one of us − that a person comes back life after life, experiencing all the negativities and working through them over the ages until in the end, through Christ being able to enlighten him, he becomes a conscious being with a chief feature of love. This is the possibility of all men. A literal reading of the scriptures might imply that God was king up in heaven and man down on the ground, a helpless slave at the bottom of the heap, but in each slave there is king.
